Early 19Th Century Irish Dresser.

An early 19th-century Irish painted dresser,, of provincial vernacular form, the upper section three open display shelves, surmounted by a moulded cornice with pierced and painted decoration.

The lower section has an open dog kennel base scalloped apron-like divisions and supported by shaped end panels. The dresser is painted overall in a bright vibrant yellow, with contrasting brilliant white interiors.

A particularly appealing example of Irish vernacular furniture, retaining the informal, decorative character associated with domestic dressers from the south and west of Ireland. The bold painted finish, shaped timberwork and relatively simple construction.

The dresser would date most plausibly to c. 1810–1830.
