A 19th Century West Country Cricket Table

A charming West Country cricket table of simple vernacular form, dating to the 19th century. The circular single-plank top has warped to a wonderful shape with age and gained rich and well-worn surface, rests upon three splayed legs set at an angle for stability. The legs are joined by a simple stretcher tri-form for added strength, all crafted in elm and ash with a warm, time-darkened patina. The whole displays honest wear, old tool marks, traces of old green paint which creates appealing surface, typical of rustic furniture made for everyday domestic use.
