An Artist’s Pigment Colour Bank of Drawers
A rare and vibrant late 19th to early 20th century artist’s pigment colour bank, originally from an artist’s studio in Paris. Comprising a bold arrangement of small drawers 34 in total, each painted in different richly pigmented hues, the cabinet served as a working reference and storage for pigments, paints, and studio materials. The varied colours—ranging from deep blues and greens to ochres, reds, and blacks—reflect both its practical function and artistic spirit. written in pencil on the side of most drawers in French gives the name of the pigment colour, each drawer has a brass label pull handles and label holders, the piece stands on a shaped plinth base, the whole displaying wonderful wear, paint residue, and patination consistent with decades of creative use.
