19th century Folk art model of the cutter Dovey Belle, The original vessel which this model was created from was originally built in 1867 by Thomas Richards Aberdyfi bay. The owner of the ship was John James Borth, registered at the port of Aberystwyth and was kept on the Dovey estuary.
This wonderful handcrafted model was built by a member of the Borth family and displays fantastic attention to detail. The piece features finely rigged masts, traditional red sails, detailed deck fittings, and a carefully shaped hull mounted on a wooden stand. A charming example of Welsh maritime folk art, it beautifully reflects the heritage of coastal trade and shipbuilding along Cardigan Bay.
