19th Century Welsh Butcher’s Block

A wonderfully characterful 19th-century Welsh butcher’s block, retaining its original robust and traditionally constructed timber base frame. The substantial pegged and mortised supports, with their weathered remnants of old painted decoration, give the piece a particularly authentic rural Welsh character.

The original working top has been replaced with a wide, exceptionally thick slab of elm, chosen for its broad grain and beautifully weathered surface. The elm has been left with its natural, washed-out appearance, displaying a wonderfully soft, chalky colour and irregular worn edges that complement the age and character of the original base.
