19Th Century Indian Inlaid Table.
An 19th century Anglo-Indian octagonal occasional table, finely crafted in hardwood and richly decorated with intricate bone inlay, probably from the Hoshiapur area in the Punjab, this area of India is renowned for there superb and intricate inlay work.The top features a central roundel surrounded by radiating foliate dragonflies and peacock motifs within multiple geometric borders, the work extending down the frieze with matching floral panels. The eight tapering legs are united by stretchers and adorned with further inlaid detailing, each arched panel embellished with stylised vine work. A fine example of traditional Indian craftsmanship made for the colonial export market, combining decorative elegance with functional design. The table top can easily be removed and the base folds neatly up for travel or storage.
