A Rare Edwardian Bank of Haberdashery Drawers – “The Unique Cabinet of Indian Tapes”

A charming and unusual small set of Edwardian haberdashery drawers, comprising three drawers in total, each beautifully divided for the orderly display or storage of sewing wares. Crafted from stained pine with a warm, mellow patina, the cabinet retains its original hand-painted gilt lettering across each drawer: “The Unique Cabinet of Indian Tapes” – a wonderfully evocative title that hints at the exotic and decorative wares it once held.

Each drawer is carefully sectioned and numbered, suggesting a practical system for organising different widths or styles of trim. Retaining their original pear-shaped pressed metal handles, these are tactile and decorative, with a gentle curve that complements the simple proportions of the piece.

A delightful and decorative survivor from a bygone retail world, equally at home in a sewing room, studio, or as a statement piece of folk-influenced storage.
