Early 19Th Century Miniature Welsh Sampler.

A charming miniature 19th century Welsh needlework sampler, worked in dark thread on a natural linen ground and presented within its original ebonised frame. The neatly stitched layout features upper and lower case alphabets, numerals, and decorative borders, all executed with pleasing regularity and folk character.

To the lower section, the sampler is inscribed “Ann Williams Aged 8 years  “1836,”

With gentle age-related wear and a soft, mellowed tone to the fabric, set in a simple wooden frame.
