A Pair Of WWI Officers Field Boots.
£225.00
A fine and increasingly rare pair of First World War period British officers’ field boots, constructed from rich brown polished leather and retaining their original wooden boot trees. The boots are of classic military form, with front lacing to the ankle, high leg shafts, and leather strap fastenings secured by small buckles along the outer calves, allowing for adjustment and a close fit when worn in the field.
The leather has developed a deep, well-patinated surface through age and use, displaying the honest wear expected of service boots from this period while remaining structurally sound. The wooden trees, shaped with turned handles, are original to the boots and would have been used to maintain their form when not in use, an increasingly uncommon survival.
Such boots were worn by commissioned officers during active service and training, combining practicality with the higher quality materials and finish typically associated with officers’ kit. A superb and evocative survival from the Great War, rich in character and presence, and a highly desirable addition to a military or equestrian-related collection.
