An elegant 19th century Aesthetic Movement bamboo side table, dating circa 1880. This refined piece is characterised by a rectangular top inset with a striking ebonised lacquer panel beautifully hand-painted with red and gilt floral sprays and songbirds in flight, framed by a fine bamboo border. The table features gently arched legs and a lower tier decorated with complementary japanned imagery, adding both stability and aesthetic balance. A small diamond-form detail within the lower structure further highlights the influence of Japanese design, which was highly fashionable in Britain during this period. A decorative and functional example of Anglo-Japanese taste.
