A Small Silver Smiths Work Bench.

£225.00

A charming and highly unusual 19th-century silversmith’s workbench of compact proportions, retaining its original worn painted finish and rich patina acquired through decades of workshop use. Measuring just 41 cm high, 62 cm wide and 40 cm deep, the bench is of an exceptionally practical size, making it equally suitable today as a side table or decorative storage piece.

The rectangular top is enclosed by a three-quarter gallery, designed to prevent small tools and precious metal fragments from falling from the work surface. Beneath are two full-width drawers, each fitted with distinctive  cast brass recessed pull handles, an attractive feature that adds to the bench’s individuality and character.

The surface displays extensive wear, with layers of the original cream paint naturally rubbed back to reveal the timber beneath, reflecting years of daily use at the jeweller’s or silversmith’s bench. This authentic distressing, combined with the robust construction and pleasing proportions, gives the workbench exceptional decorative appeal.
