A fine and imposing early 19th century William IV figured mahogany breakfront library bookcase, attributed in the manner of the celebrated cabinet makers Holland & Sons, of exceptional proportions and outstanding quality. Crafted in beautifully figured Cuban mahogany, the moulded cornice sits above a pair of glazed breakfront doors enclosing five fully adjustable shelves, retaining their original shelf supports, making the piece equally suitable for displaying books, collections or decorative objects.
The lower section is fitted with a pair of moulded panel cupboard doors opening to reveal a generous shelved interior, complemented by two oak-lined frieze drawers with their original brass swan-neck handles, providing practical concealed storage. The elegant rounded corners, finely figured veneers and restrained architectural.
The bookcase retains both of its original working keys, and breaks down into three sections, the cornices then the middle section with five original detachable shelves and the base.
