Exceptional 19th Century Anglo-Indian Hand-Carved Camel Table

A superb and highly decorative 19th-century Anglo-Indian carved hardwood camel table, finely sculpted from  dense hardwood with outstanding attention to detail. The camel stands proudly upon an octagonal plinth, richly carved with geometric motifs, supporting an elaborately decorated saddle-form tabletop with deeply carved borders.

Every element of the camel has been meticulously executed, from the expressive head and finely modelled harness to the beautifully incised saddle blankets and ornamental trappings. The quality of the carving reflects the exceptional craftsmanship of Indian artisans producing luxury furniture for the British colonial market during the Victorian period.

Furniture of this type was produced in the renowned carving workshops of Northern India, particularly in regions such as Hoshiarpur and Kashmir, where traditional Indian carving techniques were combined with Victorian tastes.

The neck of the camel and the table top can be removed for travel.
