A Pair Of 19Th Century Framed Button Samplers.

£850.00

An exceptional pair of late 19th-century button manufacturer’s or travelling salesman’s samplers, each displaying hundreds of original buttons arranged by pattern and size on their original cloth-covered boards. The collection includes an impressive variety of gilt brass, cut steel, japanned, and composition buttons, many with finely engraved, embossed, or textured decoration reflecting the fashions and craftsmanship of the Victorian period.

Each sampler retains its original handwritten pattern references and is presented in a later glazed display frame, preserving the wonderful age and character of the boards. Both examples carry the printed maker’s label “Royston & Sons Ltd., London,” adding to their historical interest and provenance.
