Edwardian Ebonised Key Cabinet with Military Mark

An attractive Edwardian ebonised wall-mounted key cabinet of traditional form, retaining its original glazed door with brass knob and internal hook fittings. The interior is painted in a deep red colour  creating a striking contrast against the dark exterior and providing an elegant display for keys.

The cabinet is fitted with a series of brass hooks and numbered roundels, designed for orderly storage,  The simple architectural lines and restrained decoration are typical of early 20th century utility pieces, combining practicality with understated style.

Of particular interest is a burnt-in mark to the reverse, resembling a military broad arrow–style device. This suggests possible War Department or government service use, as such marks were commonly applied to denote Crown property during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
