An exquisite late 19th-century English bamboo occasional table, dating to the Aesthetic Movement period, circa 1880. The unusually shaped scalloped top is decorated with richly coloured chinoiserie l scenes, depicting figures in oriental interiors surrounded by stylised floral motifs. The lacquered lower tier echoes the design and adds both visual interest and stability. Constructed from stained and varnished tiger bamboo.
A fine decorative piece that beautifully captures the East-meets-West sensibility of the Aesthetic period.
