Early 20Th Century Folk Art Whirligig.


A charming early 20th century folk art whirligig of a gentleman wearing a top hat and riding a Penny farthing bicycle. on the spokes of the large wheel are wind catching sheets to make the gentleman cycle the bike with jointed knees and also his head turns in the wind. The metal component are made from copper and have aged nicely over the years with a verdigris patina, the gentleman rider has been made from wood with a carved face and the body and arms covered with a plaster fabric and metal top hat.

Recently mounted on a oak base.
