A Rare Anglo Indian Leather Cabin Trunk.
An extremely rare early 20th century leather cabin trunk made by ” Elgin Leather Works ” Bombay India. The leather trunk still retains is original canvas storm cover with leather corners and old travel labels. The trunk has two robust leather carrying handles on each side and on the top of the trunk, The top section reveals a fitted tray to accommodate those essential items for a gentleman travelling the colonies, Above the top tray is another compartment which has two leather straps plus the maker’s label, when undone, it reveals another compartment for shirts etc. The front of the trunk opens displaying a large wardrobe area for storage and a leather hold-all, probably for a uniform which has two fold-up metal supports. The Trunk is in excellent original condition.
